Kalari payattu, the ancient martial arts of Kerala. Kalari payattu is also known
as the mother of all martial arts. History says that the fighting techniques of shaolin temple taught by Bodhi Dharma was
adopted from Kalari payattu. Kalari means the class or dojo in japanese and payattu means fighting.
The history of Kalari payattu was related to the indian mythology. It was believed that Kalari payattu was originated from
Hindu God Lord Shiva's thandava[dance form of lord shiva] and teached to saint Parasurama 6th incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu.
When his father saint Jamadagni was killed by the Kshathriya King Karthaveerarjuna, the Parasurama took an oath to kill all
Kshathriyas. After his revenge he gave all his properties to brahmin's to remove sins.
After this he want peace,so he setting out for ascetism searching a place where he can do it. The God of sea Lord Varuna give
him a beautiful place as gift that is kerala. Parasurama teach some people this art of combat fighting and he established
